The plot of this story will be a young girl Ellie (Lucy Hale). She is a science-obsessed botanist who has come to work in a remote area near Borrego Springs in Southern California, located on the border with Mexico. Ellie travels the desert in search of plants, but she is happy to work away from people and big bustling cities, despite the scorching heat. One night, something unforeseen happens that will drastically change her future life. Ellie witnesses the crash of a small private jet. Arriving at the scene of a plane crash, the girl realizes that illegal substances were transported in it.
Moreover, the plane's pilot, drug lord Thomas (Leinar Gomez), miraculously managed to survive, he is armed and dangerous. Thomas emerges from the rubble and threatens Ellie with a gun. The criminal takes the girl hostage with the aim that she will help him get to his destination. Thomas hopes to use Ellie's local knowledge to reach the Salton Sea area and leave what's left of the cargo there. The shocked and confused girl, in order to survive, agrees to help him. They set about devising a meticulous escape plan, and then set off on foot through the deserted territory, encountering dangers.
However, the plane crash did not go unnoticed. The local sheriff Jose (Nicolas Gonzalez) starts hunting for the criminal. In the wreckage of the plane, he found important evidence that indicates that it was not an ordinary private airliner. On top of that, he has to deal with his rebellious and brash teenage daughter, Alex (Olivia Trujillo). But Jose is not the only one who wants to track down the culprit. A cartel go-between named Guillermo (Jorge A. Jimenez) also joins the hunt for Thomas. If the contents of the crashed plane are not found, then Guillermo will be in big trouble.
